Beginning Story

An ordinary college student, Gyun-woo, happens to meet ‘girl’ on the subway. ‘Girl’ who was causing a hassle from being drunken, faints, saying ‘Honey’ to Gyun-woo the moment she meets his eyes.

Gyun-woo has no other option but to take charge of the ‘girl’ and spends the night (Without ill intention). From that day, the meeting with the girl continues and he strangely gradually falls into the ‘Sassy girl’…!

Review

Based on the Internet novel, it contains the unique B-class humor and sense of the Internet. In particular, the characteristics of heroine of ‘Girl’ was well depicted in a very direct and outspoken manner. The character was made in a sense that does not merely act for its own good but a detailed character with its own standard of justice and pain. With the synergy with the male main character, the pure feeling of first love was also well expressed.

Thanks to this, the heroine ‘Jeon Ji-hyun’ was able to become the best star, and best youth star of the time.

The movie itself can be seen as a B-class movie, however, it had a significant ripple effect, and it can still be selected as Korea’s representative romantic comedy from the freshness of heroine character. At the time of its actual release, it was so popular that it had most audience over Hollywood blockbusters of ‘Jurassic Park 3’ and ‘Planet of the Apes’.

Extra Story

The movie’s OST I Believe’ is a song made and sang by Shin Seung-hoon. Shin Seung-hoon is Korea’s top ballad singer in the 90s and this song became on of his signature songs.

It has garnered good results not only in Korea but also in China and Japan. Especially in China, this movie gained huge popularity at the time as being one of the top 10 symbols of Korea in some survey.

It was remade under the same title of <My Sassy Girl> in the United States and released only on DVD and had little success.
