Zombie virus spread in high school; Friends become zombies one by one!

'All of Us are Dead' is a high-teen zombie drama released on Netflix in January 2022. It was great successful to hit such as ranking first in Netflix viewing time immediately after its release, and season 2 is currently in production.

1. Setting

A zombie virus spreads in a high school, and students become zombies one by one. It is a story that students try to survive somehow in isolation at the school, and parents, police, paramedics, and soldiers struggle to save them.

2. Review

Overall, it's given scary yet fresh feeling as the high-teen genre and the zombie genre are effectively combined.

Many characters show from various places, not just a school, and all the scenes are tightly made up, so it didn't miss the tension as well. Usually, when it moves from the main story to the other sub-story, the tension is broken, but I can't find such a regret by composing all the scenes dramatically. In addition, it increased my immersion to the end as making Villain's character more and more powerful.

However, each dramatic situation is not very organically connected, so it does not create a synergy effect in the later half. Plus, the situation in which the main characters become zombies one by one continues, and the appearance of grieving 'for quite a long time' repeatedly shows, giving boredom.

Nevertheless, I would recommend it as a drama that is fresh and immersive enough.

3. Extra Story

The original is a webtoon. It is the third creature genre after Kingdom(2019) and Sweet Home(2020) among Korean dramas on Netflix.

The characters in the play appear in a state where they already understand zombies through such as the movie 'Train to Busan.'

'Train to Busan' is a 2016 Korean film, which was a huge box office hit. The director of 'Train to Busan', Yeon Sang-ho, is the director of the 2021 Netflix drama 'Hellbound'
